Rabbi Jason Miller was ordained a Conservative rabbi by the Jewish Theological Seminary of America in 2004 where he also received a Master's Degree from the William Davidson School of Jewish Education. He served as the President of the Rabbinical School Student Organization during his senior year at JTS and received the Goldstein Prize for Leadership. Whether serving as rabbi of a large or small congregation, or teaching adults or youth, Rabbi Jason brings his passion and excitement for Jewish learning. In prayer services, life-cycle events, classes, and programming for all ages, Rabbi Jason helps make Judaism fun for everyone.
Rabbi Jason Miller is currently the Rabbi of Tamarack Camps, as well as the Interim Director of ATID (Alliance for Teens in Detroit), a Conservative Jewish high school program for teenagers in Metro Detroit. Rabbi Jason also serves as the Rabbi of Congregation T'chiyah, located in Oak Park, Michigan. He has served as Associate Director of the University of Michigan Hillel Foundation (Ann Arbor, Michigan), and as the spiritual leader of Congregation Agudas Achim (Columbus, Ohio) and Congregation Shaare Shalom (Leesburg, Virginia). He was also visiting assistant professor at Michigan State University in the Religious Studies department in 2005-06.
Rabbi Jason Miller grew up in West Bloomfield, Michigan, where he attended Hillel Day School , a Solomon Schechter Day School. He was President of the United Synagogue Youth (USY) chapter at Adat Shalom Synagogue and was a board member of Central Region USY. In 1998, he graduated with honors from James Madison College at Michigan State University, where he majored in International Relations with a specialization from the Jewish Studies Program.
During Rabbinical School, Rabbi Jason Miller was the Gladstein Rabbinic Fellow. He served as the Rabbinic Intern for Congregation Agudath Israel (Caldwell, New Jersey), where he was mentored by Rabbi Alan Silverstein. He was voted as one of the "Forty Under Forty" Jewish Leaders of New Jersey by the NJ Jewish News and received the Lion of Judah award from the State of Israel Bonds.
Rabbi Jason Miller has served as a Jewish Educator and Youth Advisor at several synagogues, including Congregation Shaarey Zedek (Lansing, Michigan), Congregation Shaarey Zedek (Southfield, Michigan), Adat Shalom Synagogue, Congregation B'nai Moshe, Congregation Shomrei Emunah, Temple Emanu-El, and Town & Village Synagogue. He has also spent several summers working at Camp Ramah including Ramah Nyack Day Camp, Camp Ramah in Wisconsin, and Camp Ramah Canada.
Rabbi Jason Miller spent a summer as a chaplain at William Beaumont Hospital (Royal Oak, Michigan) as part of a Clinical Pastoral Education program. He has also served as an intern to several organizations including CLAL - The National Jewish Center for Learning and Leadership, the World Organization of Conservative/Masorti Synagogues, the Israel Program Center at the UJC of MetroWest, and the Anti-Defamation League of Michigan. He is active on the leadership boards of several charitable organizations.
Rabbi Jason Miller is married to Elissa. The couple has three children: Joshua, Jonah & Talya.
